Double bass
Johannes Keller made his first musical steps at the age of 8 on the violoncello at the Rostock Conservatory. After graduating in sound engineering from SAE Berlin, he devoted all his attention to the double bass. Two years of preliminary studies with Pepe Berns at the Kreuzberg Conservatory were followed in 2006 by studies with Detlev Beier at the Hanover Musikhochschule. There he received important impulses for his compositional work from Matthias Schubert and Julia Hülsmann. His training was supplemented by master classes and lessons with Sebastian Gramss, Palle Danielsson, Lars Danielsson, Dennis Irwin, Scott Colley, Thomas Bramerie and Marc Muellbauer. He won the Lower Saxony Jazz Prize Winning Jazz with the quintet Toke and the Three V Competition of the KreHtiv Network Hanover with the tango sextet Sueno Tango. In addition to his passion for jazz, Johannes Keller also likes to try out a variety of other styles. Particularly worth mentioning is the trio Kasimir Effekt, which can be located in the field of electronic music. He is also a member of the Tonhallenorchester and the interdisciplinary Ensemble Megaphon. As a sidemann, Johannes Keller is also active in various bands and projects and has been on the board of the Jazz Musicians' Initiative Hanover since 2014.
