Christiane Ostermayer was born and raised in Munich. After studying acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna and a first engagement at the Volkstheater in Vienna, she was part of the acting ensemble of the Staatstheater Hannover for many years. Since 1995 she has worked as a freelance actor in German-speaking countries, for theatres (including Schauspielhaus Hannover, Staatstheater Braunschweig, Hamburg, Konstanz, Staatstheater Mainz, Volkstheater Wien, Staatsoper Hannover and Stuttgart, Staatstheater Oldenburg, Theaterformen Braunschweig, Staatstheater Kassel, independent theatres in Hannover ), as well as for film, radio and television.
She has been teaching as a lecturer at the TASK Hamburg-Hannover children's acting school since 2005. Since 2015, she has held teaching positions for both acting and stage presence for musicians at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media.
A special focus of her work is the development of musical reading projects: Together with the saxophonist and music producer YORK, Christiane Ostermayer founded the project PHONOLYRICS in 2011, a fusion of prose and poetry with groovy soul-jazz sounds. Projects with the FLEX ENSEMBLE, the ENSEMBLE MEGAPHON, with Klaus Angermann/ ARTEFIKTION e.V., with the Literaturhaus Hannover as well as her own regular reading projects followed.
