Over the course of 44 years, the Italian composer Luciano Berio (1925-2003) created a cycle of works that expanded the boundaries of music: 14 "Sequenzas" for solo instruments.
Four of them - Sequenza IV for piano, Sequenza VII for oboe, Sequenza VIII for violin and Sequenza III for soprano - will be presented at the Festival Klangbrücken in a new, experimental combination.
Our idea:
The Ensemble Megaphon combines Berio's virtuosity with the story "A King Listens" by Italo Calvino. Both works explore how perception and interpretation shape our world: Berio through sound colours and live electronics, Calvino through the metaphor of listening as a search for order.
Our concept:
We break down stylistic and genre boundaries - through acoustic, light-artistic and electronic interventions. In doing so, we adapt Berio's idea of expanding works and invite you to experience this process.
Moderated by us musicians, the performance becomes a dialogue. We share our thoughts, ideas and artistic decisions with you.
