SARI GELIN - Bride of the Mountains
Love Songs of the Orient by and with Ensemble Megaphon
The music ensemble Ensemble Megaphon from Hanover took the concert-goers into the world of the ancient music history of the Orient with beautiful love ballads. Heartrendingly beautiful, traditional Armenian, Syrian and Turkish works and songs about love, joy and sorrow could be heard - arranged for string quartet, voice, percussion and choir.
The highlight of the evening was a well-known love song - Sari Gelin tells a Romeo and Juliet story about the love of a Christian for a Muslim woman. In a masterly interpretation - sung and accompanied on bouzuki - songs by Ibrahim Keivowho is a celebrated star both in his native Syria and in Europe.
After the event, a "get-together" with numerous people who had fled in the past months took place in the church.
